Connie Wininger was born and raised in Martinsville, Indiana. She attended Franklin College where she received a degree in Art Education. She taught Art in Perry Meridian High School, Perry Meridian Middle School and was a Media Specialist at Glenns Valley Elementary School. She currently resides in Greenwood Indiana.
While teaching and raising children, she found little time to create her own art. After retiring she began devoting time to painting and drawing. She identifies with the artist Grandma Moses who is considered a primitive artist who began her career late in life. She also was influenced by Vincent Van Gogh who stressed the mood and emotional feeling of a picture. She started using acrylic paints in college and continues to explore their versatility.
Often using her family and pets as models, her favorite subjects are people and animals. She likes to use color to creatively set a mood or feeling in the finished work. She has recently shown her work in local art shows at the Southside Art League, Greenwood Library, Franklin College Alumni Show, Hancock County Arts Gallery and the Art Sanctuary in Martinsville. She is a member of the Southside Art League in Greenwood.
