I am an artist that has been living in Indianapolis for 30+ years.
I started painting about 15 years ago, though art has been a lifelong passion.
I have always been fascinated with Abstract art, I love how each piece can make a person see and feel something different.
Mixed Media Abstract has become my main area of focus in recent years.
My mixed media is applied directly to the paper or canvas and is not pre-planned. For me, creating is about being free and spontaneous which makes life less complicated when there is no plan involved for a project.
I’ll start a piece and let it reveal itself while being created. Most of my mixed media art is made from torn decorative/artist papers and other mediums such as string, tissue paper, gesso, paste and acrylic or watercolor paint. Each piece begins with torn paper or fiber which is layered to create & enhance its depth and texture. I use bright colors to catch your attention or a combination of colors, textures creating depth, which is used for the intention of drawing each viewer in, to look closer to see what might be subtly hidden underneath.
I am a member of the Southside Art League (SALI).
My artwork has been accepted in many Juried shows including the National Abstract Show. My artwork can also be found in both private and corporate settings. Most recently, I was able to have the honor of one of my pieces hung in the former Lieutenant Governor’s office.
